‘Climbing the walls for Comic Relief’

Sainsbury’s at Walnuts Shopping Centre in Orpington will be climbing the walls for Comic Relief – literally!

Twenty staff from Sainsbury’s as well as Wilkinson and WH Smith will be abseiling down a specially set up climbing wall outside Orpington College on Thursday 12th March.

Members of the public will also be able to take part on the day for a cost of £5 per person with all proceeds going to Comic Relief.

Anna Leadbeater from Sainsbury’s, Walnuts commented: “I have done lots of charity work like this before including sky diving.  I even broke my foot once.  I really enjoy being active and it feels great to be doing something daring while helping a worthy cause at the same time.”

Comic Relief was launched on Christmas Day 1985 with the first Red Nose Day Event in 1988 raising £15 million for the charity.  Since then a staggering £240 million has be raised to fund projects across the UK, Africa and throughout some of the world´s poorest countries changing lives and helping people in desperate need.

The climbing wall will be open to all between 10am and 3pm on Thursday 12th March.
