Over £27,000 raised from Poppy Appeal

The Royal British Legion successfully raised over £27,000 from their Poppy Appeal collections located at The Walnuts Shopping Centre and surrounding area during November.

The Royal British Legion is the major voice for Service and ex-Service people.  They campaign and lobby on a wide range of issues, including mental and physical health, housing and homelessness, employment, community and adult care, disability, skills development and debt.  Their aim is to continuously improve the welfare and support provided for veterans and their dependants of all ages.  They also advise people on compensation claims, and offer careers advice for those looking for a fresh start after leaving the Forces.

Nick Buckley, Head of the Poppy Appeal commented: “The success of the Legion’s annual Appeal depends entirely upon the efforts of our voluntary organisers and helpers.  The Walnuts’ endeavours have been the means of bringing essential aid and comfort to those in need and we give our deepest gratitude for all they have done.”
