Tikehau Capital
has teamed up with Areli Real Estate to buy The Walnuts Shopping Centre
They have bought the
property, which comprises 58 stores, a cinema and an 83-room Premier Inn hotel,
for around £35m.
The
Walnuts is the Tikehau Capital’s second acquisition in the UK, following the
acquisition of the Nicholsons shopping centre in Maidenhead earlier this year.
“This
second real estate deal in the UK demonstrates Tikehau Capital’s strategy to
strengthen the development of its activities in the country. This is an
important step in the deployment of Tikehau Capital’s Real Estate Value-Added
Fund across Europe,” said Frédéric Jariel, head of real estate at Tikeau
Capital.
Andrea
Vanni, a partner at Areli Real Estate, which will work alongside Tikehau
Capital as an operating partner, added: “Orpington is a fantastic town with a
great high street and superb transport connections. The Walnuts is right at the
heart and an incredibly exciting opportunity to substantially increase both
vibrancy and vitality.”
The
Centre Management remains unchanged. As far as the Tenants and management are
concerned its “business as usual” with the run up to Christmas fast
approaching.
